Anal Warts
Sometimes called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) or condylomata.
There are many different strains of virus.
They cause multiple small lumps which may grow to become large & pedunculated with a granular surface.
They may extend up the anal canal and rectum.
They are highly infectious and related to genital warts.
They often recur after treatment.
Treatment
local applications (eg podophyllin paint) - may make them shrivel away
liquid nitrogen - freezing/thaw sequence - also may be effective
diathermy under anaesthetic
surgical excision with diathermy
